The colourful outburst was related to an exchange about the government’s rejection of an ownership bid back in October by Saskatoon-based Farmers of North America (FNA) to acquire the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB).
Democracy Gone Astray
Democracy, being a human construct, needs to be thought of as directionality rather than an object. As such, to understand it requires not so much a description of existing structures and/or other related phenomena but a declaration of intentionality.
This blog aims at creating labeled lists of published infringements of such intentionality, of points in time where democracy strays from its intended directionality. In addition to outright infringements, this blog also collects important contemporary information and/or discussions that impact our socio-political landscape.
All the posts here were published in the electronic media – main-stream as well as fringe, and maintain links to the original texts.
[NOTE: Due to changes I haven't caught on time in the blogging software, all of the 'Original Article' links were nullified between September 11, 2012 and December 11, 2012. My apologies.]

Tony Clement's committee no-show irks NDP's Pat Martin
Leave it to New Democrat MP Pat Martin to turn the normally largely ignorable prelude to Friday question period into Must See Parliamentary TV.
In a statement delivered in his signature irascible style, the Winnipeg MP devoted every one of his allotted 60 seconds to decrying Treasury Board President Tony Clement's "refusal" to appear before the government operations committee to "defend hundreds of millions of dollars of proposed spending in the supplementary estimates."

Pat Martin Wants Oath Of Allegiance To Queen Out Of Citizenship Ceremony
Pat Martin thinks new Canadians being forced to swear an oath to the Queen is just plain wrong.
In fact, the outspoken New Democrat thinks it’s high time this country considered severing ties with the monarchy altogether.
The Winnipeg MP said on Wednesday that he intends to resurrect a motion he tabled two Parliaments ago to amend the citizenship ceremony so that an oath of allegiance is sworn to Canada, not “the Queen and her heirs and successors.”

‘Dirty, rotten bastards’ carpet bombing my riding: Pat Martin
New Democratic Party MP Pat Martin is accusing Conservative MPs of dirty tricks, saying they are using their free mailing privileges to flood his riding of Winnipeg Centre with partisan letters to his constituents.
“They are absolutely carpet bombing my riding with them, they’re just blanketing my riding with these things,” Martin said in an interview with iPolitics. “Dirty, rotten bastards.”

Tories ask ethics watchdog to look into Pat Martin defence fund
Freshly by-elected Durham Conservative MP Erin O'Toole may have set a new record for the shortest time between arriving in the House of Commons, and filing an ethics complaint against one of his new colleagues.
According to a release posted on the party-run MulcairsNDP.ca website, the rookie backbencher is calling on Ethics Commissioner Mary Dawson to "investigate a possible conflict of interest" related to the Pat Martin Defence Fund, which was set up last year in response to the robocalls-related defamation suit launched against him by RackNine Inc.
