Democracy Gone Astray

Democracy, being a human construct, needs to be thought of as directionality rather than an object. As such, to understand it requires not so much a description of existing structures and/or other related phenomena but a declaration of intentionality.
This blog aims at creating labeled lists of published infringements of such intentionality, of points in time where democracy strays from its intended directionality. In addition to outright infringements, this blog also collects important contemporary information and/or discussions that impact our socio-political landscape.

Sean Hannity Predicts Outcome Of Trump Trials And Names Specific GOP Challenge

Sean Hannity on Tuesday predicted Donald Trump will be convicted in at least some of the trials that await him, prompting a specific challenge for Republicans. (Check out the clip below.)

On his radio show, the Fox News host echoed the claims of many on the right that trial venues in Democratic-leaning areas such as Fulton County, Georgia, New York City and Washington, D.C., will tilt verdicts against Trump.

Julian Assange Duped by Fake Sean Hannity Account, Tried to Send 'News' About Senate Democrat

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange wanted to provide Fox News host Sean Hannity "some news" about Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), the top Democrat on the Senate intelligence committee, which is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election.

One problem: Assange messaged a fake account, whose owner then alerted the press. Dell Gilliam, a writer from Texas, said she created the fake @SeanHannity__ account while she had the flu and was bored, according to the Daily Beast.

Meet the Reporter Driving Fox News’s Biggest, Craziest Stories

On May 16, the day after The Washington Post reported that President Donald Trump had divulged intelligence secrets to two Russian officials in the Oval Office, Sean Hannity devoted much of his show to the murder of 27-year-old Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich. Using a report from Fox 5, a Fox News affiliate in Washington, D.C., Hannity relayed the allegation that Rich had been in contact with WikiLeaks prior to his death—the suggestion being that Rich was the source of the hacked DNC emails in the 2016 election, not Russian hackers. Hannity would continue to talk about Rich’s murder for the next week. Breitbart and the Drudge Report also led with the Rich story, not the story about Trump.

Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity and Republicans in general have become Julian Assange fans and CIA doubters

It seems that hatred of Hillary Clinton can unite conservative Republicans such as Sean Hannity and Sarah Palin with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, the man whose website posted thousands of Clinton emails in the months leading up to the November elections.

When discussing the Joint Analysis Report that claimed to prove Russia was responsible for the hacking, Assange said that “on the top, there is a disclaimer saying nothing — there is no guarantee that any of this information is accurate.” When Hannity led Assange with the comment that “it’s a guess,” Assange shook his head and said, “I used to be a computer security expert. What they have is what they call indicators. So, a way to recognize if these tools, these alleged Russian tools, have been used on your system.”
