Democracy Gone Astray

Democracy, being a human construct, needs to be thought of as directionality rather than an object. As such, to understand it requires not so much a description of existing structures and/or other related phenomena but a declaration of intentionality.
This blog aims at creating labeled lists of published infringements of such intentionality, of points in time where democracy strays from its intended directionality. In addition to outright infringements, this blog also collects important contemporary information and/or discussions that impact our socio-political landscape.

All the posts here were published in the electronic media – main-stream as well as fringe, and maintain links to the original texts.

Watch Fox News Try — And Fail — To Get Sarah Huckabee Sanders To Endorse Trump

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) repeatedly refused to endorse Donald Trump’s third run for president in an interview on Fox News on Monday.

Instead, the former Trump White House press secretary ― whose two-year tenure in the role was characterized by her peddling of the then-president’s untruths and defense of his outrageous comments ― went off on tangents promoting her work in her state.

Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich first asked Sanders when she was “going to endorse somebody for 2024.”

Gov. Kristi Noem Endorses Trump As He Visits South Dakota

WASHINGTON (AP) — South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem endorsed former President Donald Trump at a party fundraiser in South Dakota Friday night that doubled as an opportunity for Noem to showcase herself as a potential vice presidential pick.

As his rivals held town halls and meet-and-greets in early voting states, Trump was headlining the South Dakota Republican Party’s “Monumental Leaders Rally” in Rapid City. Noem appeared alongside the former president at the paid event, creating an image that Noem’s allies had hoped would look like a presidential ticket, according to two senior Republicans familiar with her thinking who spoke on condition of anonymity ahead of the announcement.

The Most Disappointing Thing About Chris Christie’s Endorsement Of Donald Trump

In a somewhat surprising development, Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) endorsed Donald Trump for president on Friday.

“There is no one who is better prepared to provide America with the strong leadership that it needs both at home and around the world, than Donald Trump,” Christie said at a news conference. “He is, looking at the five people on that stage last night [at the GOP debate], the clear standout, and the person who will do exactly what needs to be done to make America a leader around the world again.”
