Democracy Gone Astray

Democracy, being a human construct, needs to be thought of as directionality rather than an object. As such, to understand it requires not so much a description of existing structures and/or other related phenomena but a declaration of intentionality.
This blog aims at creating labeled lists of published infringements of such intentionality, of points in time where democracy strays from its intended directionality. In addition to outright infringements, this blog also collects important contemporary information and/or discussions that impact our socio-political landscape.

Black Friday 2012 Walmart Shooting: 2 Shot Outside Tallahassee Retail Location

Two people were shot outside a Walmart in Tallahassee, Fla., on Friday, police confirmed to WCTV.

The victims were a man and a woman, according to witnesses. Neither have suffered life-threatening injuries, say police.

The scene was described to the Tallahassee Democrat as such:

Kollet Probst said she had finished much of her holiday shopping when she returned to the Walmart on Apalachee Parkway to make a return.

She said she was waiting in the customer service department when a crowd of people came running into the store from the parking lot. Shots started going off, and customers ducked for cover.

"Everybody started trying to find a place to hide," she said.

Witnesses at the scene told WCTV that "two couples were arguing and one of the men stared firing," before fleeing the scene in his car.

According to the Associated Press, authorities believe a parking space disagreement led to the shooting.

Police say officers responded to the shooting shortly after noon on Black Friday, one of the busiest shopping days of the year. A man and a woman – discovered at the store's outdoor garden center – were taken to a nearby hospital with wounds that were not considered life-threatening. They were expected to make a full recovery.

No arrests were immediately made, but police were searching for a dark green Toyota Camry in connection with the case.
