Democracy Gone Astray

Democracy, being a human construct, needs to be thought of as directionality rather than an object. As such, to understand it requires not so much a description of existing structures and/or other related phenomena but a declaration of intentionality.
This blog aims at creating labeled lists of published infringements of such intentionality, of points in time where democracy strays from its intended directionality. In addition to outright infringements, this blog also collects important contemporary information and/or discussions that impact our socio-political landscape.

Top Liberal Super PAC, Priorities USA Action, Begins Raising Funds For Possible Clinton Bid

Priorities USA Action, the largest liberal super PAC in the country, has begun raising money to help elect former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton president in 2016, The New York Times reported Thursday.

The group, which raised millions of dollars for President Barack Obama in 2012, named new directors to lead the organization: Jim Messina, who managed Obama’s reelection campaign, and former Michigan Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm (D).

Though Clinton hasn't announced whether she will run for president (she told Barbara Walters she will make the decision "sometime" in 2014), that won't stop the group from seeking six- and seven-figure donations to fund major advertising buys.

"I think the numbers clearly show that she’s the strongest presidential candidate on the Democratic side," Messina told The New York Times. "And Priorities is going to be there for her if she decides to run."

Earlier this month, the group announced an executive leadership team that includes a number of former Obama and Clinton campaign operatives.

Ready for Hillary, a super PAC that more oriented toward grassroots fundraising and building email lists, will coordinate with Priorities USA Action.
