Democracy Gone Astray

Democracy, being a human construct, needs to be thought of as directionality rather than an object. As such, to understand it requires not so much a description of existing structures and/or other related phenomena but a declaration of intentionality.
This blog aims at creating labeled lists of published infringements of such intentionality, of points in time where democracy strays from its intended directionality. In addition to outright infringements, this blog also collects important contemporary information and/or discussions that impact our socio-political landscape.

Elizabeth Warren Reveals Mitch McConnell Is Just as Big a Jerk Behind Closed Doors

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) guest-starred on Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" Tuesday shortly after kicking off her nationwide book tour in New York City. This Fight Is Our Fight: The Battle to Save America's Middle Class, the 11th book by the U.S. senator, former professor and bankruptcy law expert, is the story of wealth inequality in America since the 2008 financial crisis.

"All during the campaign, Donald Trump said that he wanted to break up the big banks; he was in favor of Glass-Steagall," Warren pointed out. "I've had a bill with John McCain (R-AZ) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and with Angus King (I-ME)... You said you wanted to do this, let's do it together."

This brought Fallon to a hilarious rumor on the hill regarding Warren and one influential Republican.

"I heard that Mitch McConnell won’t make eye contact with you," Fallon told her. "Is that real?"

"Yeah," Warren said. "You know; I say hi."

Back in February, Mitch McConnelll silenced Warren on the floor of the Senate.

"Mitch!" Fallon cried. "Mitch McConnell, you have to say hi to Elizabeth Warren. Come on, how old are we now? This is silly. We have to be civil. Let’s do this, we all have to work together."
